Bridge Openvpn + non root user

Hi everybody,

I'm setting up an openvpn server on my computer. I want to redirect my browser traffic through it and be able to access my printer and external hdd from the outside world.

The server works correctly and I can connect to it as long as I start openvpn with root proviledges. I'd like to do that with a non root user and I'm a bit stuck.

I've edited the sudoers file so that I can use openvpn and ip without switching to root, but the server requests that I use ifconfig to change my ip address (it's a bridged VPN with a tap device). I don't think it would be safe to allow the use of ifconfig to a non root user.

What would be the best and safest way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.
