Fedora support ``linux dd`` for third party drivers, during the OS installation

Hi,

As per my understanding, all latest Fedora / RHEL 6.x and RHEL 7.x recognize Driver Disk Version 3 formats.

We did driver disk packaging for all these OSes.

We were able to load driver disk during RHEL 6.x and 7.x installation. It works fine.

But, with Fedora(we have tried Fedora 16 and 15, both 32 and 64 bits) we are finding some issues.

Does any of the Fedora (11 to 20) allows ``linux dd`` update? Is there any other way of loading third party driver disk image ?

Error message:

“No devices of appropriate type were found on this driver disk

Would you like to manually select the driver, continue anyway or load another disk”

On both 32 bit and 64 bit OSes.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora 15, 16 anaconda installer.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Take a thrird party driver disk file

2. Pass the "linux dd" as boot arguements

3. Provide the iso file from USB

4. Observe the error message as above

Actual results:

It accepts the "linux dd" and pops up a dialog box asking driver disk. But After reading the iso from USB, throws the error “No devices of appropriate type......" as mentioned above.

Note:

Fedora 18 is not even prompting for driver disk (as in FC 16 which pops a dialog box “do you have a driver disk”), when “linux dd” is provided as boot arguments.

Expected results:

The third part driver should get loaded/updated
