Skype Update

It has been quite some time for an update to Skype on linux. I am starting to think that Microsoft is not going to release another update for Skype on linux. Is there any information on if theres going to be another update?

They released a new version. Wasn't necessarily better.

The only thing that worries me is that they disabled on purpose the older Linux versions from working. I have an oldie Mac that still boots to version 10.4 (early 2009) and the skype on this machine was working fine. So, I don't believe they forced every Linux into the upgrade because the communication protocol changed.
