Overwhelmed Noob

I'm tired of Windows and OS X. Want to try Linux. All I really want to do on a computer is:

1. Connect to the Internet wirelessly.

2. Surf the web.

3. Download and open pdfs.

4. Use LibreOffice as my word processor.

5. Send and receive email.

6. Use three monitors.

7. Do this fast fast fast.

Any suggestions on which distribution? On hardware requirements? Anything else I should know?

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Dual boot. Keep Windows unless you are absolutely sure that you want to ditch it. You might decide to go back to Windows and you can reinstate it.
