Newby to Linux

Well I have done it got fed up with Windows 7 so I have ordered the bundle from the Linux store which includes Ubuntu 13.10, Linux Mint 16, Open SUSE 13.1, Simply Mempis 11.0 and PC Linux 2013.12 all for £15 a bargain.

I am guessing that these are all 32bit eventually I will run a 64 bit version. This is all rather daunting as I have ever only used Windows XP, and Windows 7 Ultimate so this is going to be a bit of adventure. I intend to use the Linux distro's directly from the CD's then dual boot the one I like best and then when I have got realy used to the distro will do a clean install. Some things I need to know I have a Auzen video card will I be able to get drivers for that. Do all distro's come with internet security and firewalls, and will I be able to use Linux for gaming, What cleaning tools will I need I understand that I will not require any defraging software.

What other software will need to add such as office software will I need. As you can see I have little knowledge of LINUX.

your card is gonna take some reashearch to find the right drivers. as far as internet security and firewalls you can configure but since 95% of viruses on the internet are made for windows you wont have to worry about it

ubuntu and mint have an option called additional drivers which could possible find your graphics drivers for you.

most linux distro come with libre office which is a full office suite that fully support microsoft office files

I'm a real newbie here. I'm running a PCI serial device on my PC. In ****Win 10 Com port 2, 9600 b 8n2 DTR & RTS on. When I do a search of ports I do not see dev/ttyS1 only ttyS4 and 5. I have a SCS-PTC tnc attached to the serial port as com 3, com 1 an other tnc (PK 900) and a USB Signalink Sound card which works. All I want to do is have the programs access these ports so it will control the radio using 8N2, 9600 B on Com 2 Windows which is now Linux. I don't comport 2 or dev/ttyS1 listed
