Red Hat 6.2 installation gone wrong

Hi, any pointers would be greatly appreciated:

I have finally wiped my Windows laptop after my daughter did something funny to it. I would not restore and all that other Microsoft b/s. Lost everything, including a connection.

Red Hat 6.2 Enterprise is 'installed', but no Internet connectivity, I have found the terminal, logged in as root and cannot access a simple ipconfig command or netconfig.

Numerous searches have led to dead ends, and hours have been wasted.... but I vow never to go back to Windows.

Ah, its a Lenova laptop (G780?)

Any pointers would be appreciated as to how to proceed, thanks
