Best free C IDE?

Ahiy there, I'm getting back into C after a few years break and just installed Linux mint yesterday. What's the best C IDE for small scale projects?

Some like emacs or codeblocks, other prefer gleanny.
As all i want is a cobalt theme my choice is gedit.

After all, its just a matter of your taste and what you want/need of an application/IDE.

I know this is an old post, but just in case somebody else has the same question, like I did, I went for CodeLite.
