Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

Is it true the Qt framework KDE is on isn't open-source?

I've heard this a few times and tried to look into it but didn't find too much. This might make me avoid KDE even though I love it, lol.

According to the QT license documentation there are three different versions, 2 under open source licenses and one under a restrictive commercial license where people do not want to be forced to release their source code. However some dependencies and included libraries use other licenses, I would assume the opensource version only includes items under open source licenses, but you can check the page I linked to to verify that yourself.
