Installed slax on my laptop and now i cant get the internet to run...

need the IP address to show up but it wont can somebody run me through all the steps so i can have my internet?

1. Are you using a wired or wireless connection?
2. Have you confirmed that the network card has a driver installed?

I have not used slax since the days when it was slackware based, so I do not know what tool it is using to configure the network connections. What tool are you using to configure the network connections and are you receiving any error messages when you attempt to connect to your wireless network?

we switched to Ubuntu and its the 2008 edition and still isn't working..

it didn't have any error message to it... just wouldn't bring up the IP address in the configuration tab

Is the wireless source in visible mode ?Did you check the security settings in the wireless source?
If it is your home wireless source, try to connect to it using wire-connection.
