partitioning :)

Has anyone had a windows computer, and reduced the size of the Windows partition? Can you do that and Windows did not have to be re-installed?

Yes you can reduce the size of the windows partition safely using the windows disk manager tool, however the windows partition will be unstable and will require for you to run check disk several times after it is complete to stabilize the disk.
  • yes. Using third Party s/w, not in Control Panel. But, one time, when I resize it, it messed up and lost the Window$ OS.

Regarding the second part of question, I am not sure, since I had both POS/NEG experience.

I've resized Windows partitions without incident a few times. Just remember to do 2 (Yes TWO) defrags before you resize the windows partition. Make sure you use the Windows utility for resizing, like mfillpot suggested, and, you should be ok. I've never had to run chkdsk after the resize before, but, it is not a bad idea.

You should have a problem if you follow our instructons.
