Can't find root partition

Hello to all who read!

I recently installed Slackware on my PC but I have caught a bit of a snag:

I installed Slack on /dev/sdb8 but whenever I try to boot to it, I get a kernel panic message saying "Invalid 'root=' command, try these partitions: /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2". I even checked lilo.conf and it said to use /dev/sdb8 as root.

Any thoughts?

Thanks to all posts!

Please share the contents of your /etc/fstab and /etc/lilo.conf files here so we can help diagnose the issue.

Sorry about the delay, but I have already resolved the issue.
I had to append "rootdelay=##" to the kernel in lilo.conf
    Thanks anyway!

I am glad that you got it sorted out.
I am sorry for my delayed response, I have been busy entertaining family from out of town.
