Need help building a linux installer..

Hi guys!! I am a total linux newbie who needs to build a Linux OS from source. I tried using buildroot to build the OS and was successful but my problem is, I don't know how to make an installer out of it and how to include custom packages

As Marc said, check out Linux From Scratch. It walks you through the entire process of building a Linux system, bootstrapping from the basic stuff. Very thorough, not to mention educational!
