Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

First time using Linux, EVER.

Ok, so here is the scoop. I downloaded Unbutu last night, installed it on a USB Flash Drive, and successfully booted it from the Flash Drive on my laptop. Here is my question, every time I boot it, I have to re-do things, like re-download FLASH, etc. Is there a way to save these changes on to the Flash Drive and avoid redoing this all the time?

  • I used the Universal USB installer off there, and now I can boot from USB. Did I just miss an option in the "installing" to USB steps to make it persistant?

You might want to start off by reading https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD/Persistence.

With some custom modifications to the USB image you can set it to mount alternate writable partitions on the usb stick for /etc, /home, etc... which would allow you to save the state information.
