Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

now i've done it

i've got this mybook hard drive i use to store a lot of stuff, recently while i was trying to make an ubuntu live usb, and accidentally chose the mybook thing instead of my 2gb flash drive, and bang! 200gb of files are gone. since the ubuntu image takes up only about 10 megs, i suppose everything is recoverable, but i'm having a partition problem: as soon as i plug the drive in, it goes after all that ubuntu stuff, a quick check into its proprieties shows that i seem to be looking at a 15mb partition that was created in there. i have no idea of what to do, if anyone could help, i'd appreciate it. i'm using gentoo by the way, (but i can boot into another distro if it helps)

tell me if my post isn't clear enough or anything.

Can you please post the output of "fdisk -l" so we can see what partitions are on the external hard drive?
