Installation of printer was normal, the OS download necessary PLUG-IN`s and take me back message "Printer installation successful" or something like that. But! When I trying to print some kind of documet or picture the OS show message "Printing..." , but in actuality the printer just do nothink... /no action/ - as though ....NO command send to printer. /Sorry for my horrible english/

That is the LOG file generated from "printingbuginfo" shell scrip downloaded from Ubuntu official WEB site.

  • Hi, it looks like all the components are loaded and installed correctly. Did you install the HP Linux Imaging and Printing software from the HPLIP site (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html or from the Ubuntu repository?

I noticed when I upgraded the kernel it broke the HPLIP package and I had to reinstall from the repository (it was quicker). It had to recompile hooks into the kernel.

Also, sometimes even though the HP systray may be up and running the back-end cups daemon is not running.

You can check this by running:

    # sudo ps aux | grep cups

Which should return a result similar to:

    root 2813 0.0 0.1 6208 1908 ? Ss Aug02 0:00 /usr/sbin/cupsd

If not you'll need to start the cups daemon:

    # sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart (or just stop and then start)
