Hi guys,

I have a problem about the motherboard i guess.

I cannot use some of hotkeys, also, any of external monitors and projections are not recognized by my ubuntu.

I couldnt fix that problem even i search google. Any suggestion or experience about such that problem ?

I tried acpi-supoort package but nothing fixed.

This is a laptop, I assume? What kind? Typically, you need kernel support to utilize the hotkeys, plus some software that runs as a daemon that intercepts the key-presses and acts upon them. I have used such software on my Lenovo X and T series laptops. I use Fedora and there is a package in the repos called tpb that provides this.

To get additional monitors to work, you need to modify the configuration file for the X server, typically found in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I'm not sure about Ubuntu, but there may be a graphical tool to do that. You also need to go into the BIOS and make sure that any VGA-out ports are enabled (again, if a laptop).
  • yes this a laptop, and VGA output is already enabled.

May be you have trouble with acpi module. I have Asus laptop - x50gl series (M/B is f5gl version). In my case and battery did not detect. This is bug in kernels 2.6.25 - 2.6.28 (I use Ubuntu 8.10 and kernel 2.6.27).
    Kernel bug - http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11880
I fixed problem after pach and recompile kernel.

Perhaps to seek a possible solution and here  - http://www.linlap.com/wiki/asus

    I hope to help you.
  • I check it again and an interesting thing happened.

When I changed ctrl+F1, external monitor was working, i mean it is only work with terminal. if i turn back to Gnome external monitor is not working.

the links above have not helped me actually and i am really fed up with that problem because i cannot make my presentations in my ubuntu.
