PulseAudio seems to be a very good tool to manage sound operations on a Linux Computer. There is a default tool (ALSA) that manages sound, but "pulse" makes using that tool much easier. It also gives the Linux user an easy-to-understand walkthrough of how sound works, not just on Linux but on a computer in general without too much technical information that requires every term to be researched. Piece by piece get an understanding of what happens under the hood of Linux.
