Career as a system admin newbie

I have a friend in India who is in the midst of switching careers from a non-computing profession to Linux admin. He is a quick learner and has learned quite a bit through Linux foundation courses. He is about 35 years old now and is looking to switch into Sys Admin jobs. He will probably be classified as an entry level/junior system admin.

My question is with all the changes related to DevOps how much growth prospect do you all see in jobs for Sys Admins? Is there anything I can recommend him to pursue on top of what he is already doing to increase his chances with a career switch?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
