CD distribution information
Hello there,
I once tried a Linux OS back in 2005 that i had placed on a cd, and booted it from my XP machine which I'm still using. I'm a home user.
So I would like to do so again. I had used a CD-RW cd.
What distribution should I use for this task? I've currently got a windows 7 on order, a late 2007 optiplex 760.
I don't plan on using Linux as a primary operating system, since I don't really need to. But Linux offers software knowledge too. I'm curious to try something out with it.
Thank you.

The biggest determinant is the amount of RAM (Memory) you have. Here is a list of 162 to try: https://livecdlist.com/purpose/desktop/
DO NOT use a CD-RW! It is not recommended
If you just want something to try you might look at Porteus: http://www.porteus.org/ It's quick!
