Ubuntu Stack after User name and password entered

Need help i installed Ubuntu Intrepid in :

Pentium 4, 2.8ghz

512 mb ram,

40 gb hardisk

no built in lan card, thats why i both realtek Lan card.

Scenario:

i install ubuntu intrepid using live cd, after installing, it looks like fine, i go to sleep for about 4 hours when i wake uo, and try again my new ubuntu box it stack after i log in. any suggestions?

Fixes:

I try to remove the pci Lan Card.

reinstall ubuntu OS.

Boot from recovery mode but output in the end if the line is

" End Of Trace" then stack up again, <- what is the meaning of that.</p>

But no luck it still stack up after loging in.

    daniel im in my office today so i cannot post it right now. can i ask you what should i look for in that log file???

    I guess you have problem with videodriver. At least, log contains a lot of useful information.

    and.. if you have internet access at home, try to update system from console.

    how come did you conclude that my problem is in video card??

    it is because i am using built in video adapter?

    i also thinking about the video because its stack and nothing moves when graphic are loading.

    i will update it through console. thanks for the advice .
