    The best and safest way of converting the files would be making a copy of the PST files and then performing a conversion of it into an MBOX format with the help of a utility tool since manually exporting the files may get quite complicated considering PST belongs to Outlook and MBOX to Thunderbird, Apple mail etc.

    What I would do

    • First, copy the PST file to a separate folder.
    • Then open that copy in a PST to MBOX converter.
    • Select only the folders you need.
    • Save the output as MBOX.

    After conversion, you have to open the MBOX file in Thunderbird and check a few emails with attachments.
