18.1 Table columns can be added changed or deleted

Hello,

I'm a bit surprised with the statement saying that data is stored in fixed length tables. And columns can be added changed or deleted.
Maybe i'm misunderstanding but i thought that columns were "fixed" and that rows are added, changed & deleted

    Yes you can add columns with the alter table statement. Normally we just add rows of data, but we can make changes to the table structure.
