It would be nice to mention that saving the rules doesn't mean they will get automatically loaded after reboot.

Providing autostartup solution may be too much, but mentioning the above fact and that there is a restoration ability (e.g. for Ubuntu it is iptables-restore) could be useful.

    Thank you for your input. There is a different method for persistent iptables on each of the major distro's: CentOS7 uses the "iptables" service and the /etc/sysconfig/iptables file, OpenSUSE uses SUSEfirewall2 package and Ubuntu 16.04 has the "iptables-persistent" package.  The common to all distro's is "firewalld" package which may or may not be the default.  

    Some additional information will be added in a future release, thank you again for highlighting this.

    Also, in order to use service iptables save, you need to install iptables-services package which is not installed by default on CentOS 8
