Chapter 06 - "Launching a Multibranch..." - Github Credentials trouble maybe useful for other

When I was following this section of chapter 6 I get stuck with this error after select my credentials:

"Invalid credentials: https://api.github.com/user {"message":"Requires authentication","documentation_url":"https://docs.github.com/rest/reference/users#get-the-authenticated-user"}"

To fix it i had done another token with "repo" permissions in my github account. In jenkins in the configure of multibranch, instead of create the credential like "Secret text" for the new token I use the "Username and password". And instead of password I put the new token with the username.

And it works.

Correction. The section is "07. Pipeline as a Code with Jenkinsfile" subsection "Launching a Multibranch Jenkins Pipeline"

  • @julian.muhlberger thanks for sharing this fix. I confirm this is an issue and need to be updated in the course. Should go into the course as a video + lab update by mid Jan.
