Gwget will not mirror site

Hi,

I just installed Gwget in Ubuntu. When I define a new download to mirror a whole site, and enter the url as http://sitename.com, it only downloads the index.html file, not the whole site. Can someone help with this?

Thanks,

Randy

The application you use is only a download utility, it will only download the specific component /page that you request.

I would highly recommend that you look at the command at http://www.commandlinefu.com/commands/view/764/download-an-entire-static-website-to-your-local-machine and the comments, this will help you to quickly achieve your goal.

Thanks for the help, I'll try that. One question, though -- what directory will the mirrored site be located in on my hard drive?

    Thanks,
    Randy

The site will be mirrored in your working directory that you are in in the terminal when you run the command. If you just open the terminal and run the command then the site will be mirrored in your /home/{username} directory.

Please notes the comment that was made on the command about the recursion level, this script will follow all links which may pick up far more than you want, so try to set the recurions level to a relatively low number like 5.
