Is there a hidden message in the recent Linux.org hack which involved defacing the site?

Although I haven't seen the defacement, going by the reports and links to the hackers, it seems like there is a message. Otherwise why would link to the hacker.

Is the message here that there is a backdoor in Linux?

What is the most secure Linux distribution?

Those seem like they are made for special purpose. Is there anything for a everyday user? Is Debian secure, like without backdoors? I'm using a standard installation of Fedora and I'm noticing suspicious activity from the beginning.

But Debian's installation is not very easy for beginner?

Will building myself a custom distro be possible and secure?

Debian is Ok. It's not a beginners distro, being described as intermediate.
