My Ubuntu doesn't recognize the existence of the new printer I have. I am not a computer guru. Need help getting my computer to know that I have a new printer.

  Did you try going into cups by typing

  http://localhost:631

  into your browser? I've always found that was the easiest way to get my printers working.
