Ubuntu install on a new pc

Hello, i am currently studying Linux as part of my computer science lecture and decided hey with the new pc i am building why not install it as it supports the games i play and i will be learning about the operating system itself. Unfortunately this is my first build and i am kind of worried about the setting up. I hope to install Ubuntu and i know of how you may download the packages in some sense for drivers but i was wondering if anyone has done this and is their certain motherboards i should maybe stay away from in the sense that Nvidia are awkward with linux kinda. anyway it's 2 am but i'm around thanks for reading.
