Ubuntu vs W7 MBR?

I recently installed Ubuntu on a partition with Windows7 originally installed. Now as I understand, I have to go through the ubuntu menu to boot into windows every time. And apparently removing ubuntu now can cause problems..?

So how can I set windows as the default boot?

and how can I remove the ubuntu partition without messing with the windows boot??

Any advice would be appreciated.
