Question about android and tablets

I am debating getting a tablet this christmas for myself. 1. should i keep android on it or set it up for linux 2. What kind of hardware should i be looking at i do not want to spend more than 500 dollars honestly. 3. It must have full hd resolution i can't stand my laptop for not having better pixel density and pc's in general with the lack of pixel room.

Honestly it all depends on how much you want to play with the device, it is possible to install Linux on some android based tablets, but a new device called pengpod (http://pengpod.com/) will be shipped next spring, on that device you can choose android or Linux or you can even choose to opt for dual boot.

That family of devices appear cheap and seem to be a good option for a user that wants to play with the system, the included linux installation will also help to guarantee that you will not be fighting with drivers.
