Best way to open MBOX email files without installing Thunderbird?
I recently found several old MBOX files from a previous email account, and I only needed to read the emails and check a few attachments. I didn't want to install Mozilla Thunderbird or any other email client just to access the data. While searching online, I came across MacSonik MBOX Viewer, and I'm wondering if anyone here has used it for this purpose.
From what I've read, it lets you open and read MBOX files without installing any email application, which is exactly what I need. It also seems to support MBOX files created by Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, and other MBOX-based email clients, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue.
One thing that caught my attention is that it displays the complete mailbox structure, including Inbox, Sent, Drafts, and other folders, while also allowing users to preview emails and their attachments without modifying the original file. That's important because I don't want to risk changing or damaging the mailbox data.
Another useful feature is that it can reportedly read slightly damaged MBOX files, which could be helpful since one of my backups doesn't seem to open correctly in its original application. I also noticed it supports opening multiple MBOX files at once, making it easier to compare different mailbox backups from the same project.
The interface looks simple enough for non-technical users, and I like that it works on both Mac and Windows systems. There's also a free demo available to test before upgrading if
additional export or conversion features are needed.
