Is There Any Reliable Way to Import Large MBOX Files to Gmail Without Thunderbird?

I've been helping a family member move years of archived emails into Gmail, and I quickly realized that importing MBOX files isn't as straightforward as I expected. Most articles recommend using Thunderbird with IMAP, but once the mailbox gets larger, the process becomes slow, and it's difficult to know whether every email has been transferred successfully.
