Only deliver a black page

The scanner can scan but only a black page delivered.

Please help and advise where to check?

Are you sure this is the correct model number? A Google search for 3400 has no useful result. There is a 3490. Is that it? See https://www.autodidacts.io/how-to-get-epson-perfection-3490-flatbed-scanner-working-on-ubuntu-linux/
